proma 150 THC

Post by KevinTaylor »

Which proma 150 torch height control do I need with the acorn?
The proma 150 or
proma 150 SD?

I know that 4.14 was just released and should work with the THC and that the actual plugin wont be until 4.16 but I am building now, and have no problem waiting patiently for 4.16 version as I am set on using acorn for my plasma table build.

Thank you

Three Plasma methods

these first two work with cnc12 now as they are independant systems
1.) THC that is Fully Independent of the CNC, uses its own additional Z axis and axis motor to move the torch head up and down. No special Acorn Plasma Plug in is needed for this type of THC.
2.) THC that is Integrated to CNC style 1: and hijacks the step and direction signals from the Acorn to the axis motor driver and adds and subtracts pulses as necessay. No special Acorn Plasma Plug in is needed for this type of THC. http://proma-elektronika.com/index.php/ ... act-thc-sd

this last method needs future CNC12 software support to work..
3.) THC that is Integrated to CNC style 2 : THC has three outputs UP, DOWN, and ARC OK. These Outputs are connected to the Acorn Inputs. Acorn Wizard as these selections in the input drop down list. ThcUp, ThcDown, ThsArcOk. The THC sends theser ‘commands’ to the Acorn by closing the input, when the UP input is closed CNC12 Adds steps to the Z axis position, when the ThcDown input is closed CNC12 Subtracts steps to the Z axis position. CNC12 waits for ThcArcOK before moving XY commands, when the ThcArcOK input is closed CNC12 knows that it is good to continue with XY movements.

May I ask when do you anticipate the release of version 4.16? I'm sure it's in another post but I couldn't find it.

Acorn CNC12 road map...(subject to change)

4.18 Maintenance release. has new Update Wizard so you don't have to type in all the config values.
4.20 Ether 1616 support
4.2x Maintenance release.
4.2x User editable VCP and Router version of CNC12
4.2x Maintenance release
4.2x Plasma plug in

we are switching to faster lighter releases, each feature release will focus on one or two major items and about 20-30 little items. unlike the 4.12 to 4.14 release which had over 300 items.

I'm sorry, I thought I read somewhere 4.16 was going to be the Plasma plugin release?? Anyway, when do you think the Plasma plugin (4.26) will be released (ballpark)? Next few months? By the end of this year? Next year? I've already ordered the THC 150.

Thanks

I wonder as well how long will it take for 4.26.
We bought proma 150 back when we were using mach3, but seems like proma thc-sd is a way to go on if you're in a hurry.

Hi Keith - If I'm understanding this correctly, all the functionality to enable "advanced THC use" will only include changes on the CNC12 side?
Meaning there will be no hardware changes to Acorn?

I have a DIY CNC router, Marlin controlled, that I plan to implement Acorn once the Plasma Plugin is finished.

That means I could actually get it all running in terms of motion while the software is in DEV?
Thanks
Chris
