Spindle RPM with Hall Effect sensor

Post by kmundt »

I am retrofitting a Lagunmatic 250 with All in one.
I am converting to a VFD.
Now that I can control speed with the VFD, I would like to be able to set spindle speed.
There is no easy way to add a spindle encoder, but I can easily add a magnet to the pulley flange and add a hall sensor.

I have seen threads for the other controllers but have not found details for how to do this for the All in one.

Can you point me to some documentation or posts that can help me with the connections and PLC reconfiguration if needed?

You do not need an RPM sensor to set spindle speed.

The Allin1DC will send a 0-10V speed control signal to the VFD. You just need to set a suitable maximum output frequency in the VFD; and set the expected maximum spindle speed in CNC12 Control Configuration to match.

With a good VFD, speed control is typically accurate within 1% or so.
