Fusion 360 program & my PM25

Post by ronster »

I recently began using the trial version of Fusion 360. I completed one of the AutoDesk tutorials and post processed the code using the Centroid post processor I pulled into the Fusion software. I loaded the file in my Acorn driven PM-25 with the CNC conversion and I ran it bare to see if it would run logically. It appeared to run fine as I watch the code and used stops to check if my G54 was tracking along with the code. The problem I'm having is regardless of where I set up the part, the actual head/spindle is tracking towards too far Y and short on X. It hard to describe what I'm seeing, but it as if my machine doesn't know where it should start although the coordinates track in sync position as I watch on my monitor. The machine coordinates and the WCS coordinates have always confused me and feel it something I've fail to do. I do have homing switches on all axis and home each startup.
Can someone tell me what I need to do get this file to run? I believe I've tried to think through this but apparently my inexperience is showing.

Thanks.

Does it look right on the F8/Graph screen?

Have you tried creating a program with the Intercon conversational programming? If so, how does that program look on the F8/Graph screen, and in the actual machine travels.

If the F8/Graph screen looks right, but when you run the job it looks like your machine is moving too much on one axis, and not enough on another, then your turns ratios (revs/inch settings) are probably not right.

If the part is correctly proportioned, but seems to be cutting in the wrong place on the table, then your Part Setup procedure is not right, or is not matched with the part zero location you chose in Fusion.

You can see where the part zero is supposed to be in the G code program, by looking at the Top view on the F8/Graph screen and checking the rulers along the sides of the display.

I have ran a part from the Intercon parts and it ran fine. The F8 graph looks like it is okay. I do think there could be a part zero problem from the Fusion tutorial. I will check that again. I maybe setting up the part in the wrong. The tutorial ran fine simulating, but since Fusion doesn't offer a virtual machine running Centroid I cannot simulate my machine to ran the NC. Thanks for your thoughts,

Thank you, but that is only the generated g-code.

pls save the complete fusion file on your computer and upload here.

I can't seem to be able to post the .f3d file, but I can send the link to your email if you don't mind. My email is rf37797@gmail.com

Thx

I could open it, looks ok from the setup except for the cutting rates. They are too high for a small PM25 mill.

You must set part 0 on the same edge of the stock material as shown in fusion and make sure to have enough travel from this point, then it will run if the mill is set up right.
