411 Error No Y Axis Movement

Post by rallispec »

We have Bridgeport CNC with Centroid M400 retrofit done roughly 10 years ago. Today while running a program the machine stopped and set a 411 error and has since stopped working in the Y axis and will set the same error immediately every time when trying to jog Y axis. There is no movement at all no matter how slow. We performed the following diagnostics
1. Verified Y axis and motor moves freely by rotating the belt by hand
2. Checked VM+ to VM- voltage and it is 160VDC
3. Checked all fuses and none are blown.
4. Reversed the X and Y axis encoder and motor cables at the Allin1DC board. Doing so allows the Y axis to move without issue and X axis becomes the one to set 411 error code.

Please let us know where we go from here?

Based on the information you provided. (assuming you checked F2, F3 and F4, Removed from the board and with a continuity meter) Your Allin1dc will unfortunitly need to be sent back for repair or swapout. Please contact Support@centroidcnc.com to arrange a RMA.

Reversed the X and Y axis encoder and motor cables at the Allin1DC board. Doing so allows the Y axis to move without issue and X axis becomes the one to set 411 error code.
This is a good and useful test. But when reporting your results, it is important to distinguish between the X and Y axes on the control, and the X and Y motors and axes on the machine.

I am guessing that you you mean is that, with connections swapped:
1) Pressing X axis jog buttons causes the Y servo motor to move, without error.
2) Pressing Y axis jog buttons causes no movement of the X servo, and results in a "411 Y axis(2) full power without motion" stall.

If that is the case, then Matt's analysis is probably correct.

However, because you do not have your Y axis limit switch input numbers entered on the Machine Configuration -> Motor Parameters screen, you could also get exactly this behavior simply by opening both Y axis limit switch input circuits (e.g. cutting the limit switch cable).
