ENA +/- on G0678
I am unable to jog X axis if ENA plug is inserted to driver, X rotates freely by hand.
If plug is removed jog function works, hand crank is stiff, but F4 Power Free function does not work to release axis.
Wiring Diagram S15129
Motors on X and Y are Automation Technology KL34H280-45-3B
Drivers are Automation Technology KL8070D
Right now I can use the MDI feature with ENA + and - unplugged.
What has changed and how to get back?
Multiple CNC software restarts and Acorn reboots have not helped
Cant find any loose or missing wires.
Problem started today, machine was fine when shutdown yesterday'
Initial start today computer had a hard time finding Acorn and when it eventually did this problem manifested.

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
hello.
advice for stepper motor drives with ENA is to always first run without it. it is very common to get the ENA signal messed up which stops the stepper from turning, once you get everything sorted then go back and get the ENA working.
other items.
- have you run the PC Tuner on the CNC PC? as you are getting com errors which i see in the error log, these need resolved before solving other issues
- report shows you are running v5.08, the latest CNC12 release is v5.10. Free tech support is available for v5.10. please open the Wizard and press the CTRL and P keys at the same time and save the PDF it generates to your desktop and then install v5.10 CNC12 and follow the upgrade instructions.

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
Prior to upgrading to PRO this machine worked fine. ENA was running fine on all 3 axis.
Issues came day after upgrade.
PC tuner installed and run
cnc12 v5.10 installed
Restarted/booted Pro license updated
Now xyz cannot be operated.F1F4F3 powered or unpowered do not work. JOG does not work on any axis. Cannot get spindle to turn either manual or auto.
When "Powered" the hand wheels are free when unpowered they are firm(Powered) so this is backward. The issue with X axis ENA plugged/unplugged remains.
There was an issue with estop which I reset
Ran report attached.

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
then i would double check the ENA inversion setting on the version that worked and compare it to the version that doesn't

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
I tried unsuccessfully to invert the enable in config no joy. This is strange because all worked fine until the day after PRO 5.8 was loaded.
After loading 5.10 all settings in Wiz needed to be re entered, the reason for all the issues. That is all done and machine now runs as expected, BUT X ENA is still the problem.
I traded the Y axis plug ( PUL,DIR,ENA) and x then works fine (using the Y jog inputs).
So ENA on X appears to be wiring issue. Checked that Didnt find any reason.
So I can live with this for awhile as MDI and manual input works, as does a basic check of CAM.
Is there anything in Parms that might be effecting this?
I appreciate the help.

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
Today i jumpered Y feed to X motor. All works great.
Then took X feed jumper to Y motor. Same issue with the ENA.
So its not motor and or feed, it is something in the acorn board.

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
did you isolate the cable and the drive with similar method?

Yes that’s what I did
Done all the troubleshooting I can think of.
Any suggestions?

Re: ENA +/- on G0678
I believe there is a bug in Acorn CNC12 v5.10 (and maybe earlier versions as well; I only had the opportunity to observe v5.10), by which inverting the enable outputs does not work.
Whether inverted or not, the enable outputs are active (LED green, header terminal pulled low) when the axis is supposed to be under CNC control, and inactive (LED red, header terminal floating) when the axis is supposed to be free.
This is a bug that should be fixed, even if comparatively few customers choose to use that feature.

i'll check into it, lots of user use this, i guess its possible but doubtful.cncsnw wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 10:42 pm I believe there is a bug in Acorn CNC12 v5.10 (and maybe earlier versions as well; I only had the opportunity to observe v5.10), by which inverting the enable outputs does not work.
