Problem homing <auto square, hardware pairing vs software pairing>
Alright so I have an avid bench top pro, with clearpath sdsk motors, and fm30 spindle. I recently added the c86accp board because I was getting intermittent drive faults during tool changes, I have a few questions, I have now started running into a problem when homing the machine. On the last step of homing the master x-axis the slave side continues to keep moving and faults out, the prox switch trips and when I hit alt i I can see it activated so I know the switch is working, however when I go into the wizard after this happens it will show that the axis are not paired, this will happen right after I change it to axis 4 paired to axis 1. I wrote changes and shut down cnc12 but after it will show it as not paired. Wondering if anyone has any insight. My other question is on the c86accp board for the slaved motor, do I keep both jumpers on the 2-3 position for x axis or do I remove one all together? The directions weren’t exactly clear. Thank you!

Re: Problem homing
Just want to confirm you have a Pro License, needed for auto squaring.

Re: Problem homing
Yes I do, before I put the c86accp board on it has never had a problem with auto squaring or homing

Re: Problem homing
Someone told me that using the slave on the c86 board would not allow auto squaring using cnc12. Should I switch the slaved motor to the 4th axis and just pair them in cnc12 instead? Not sure if that makes sense. I have a hard time wrapping my head around all this.

Re: Problem homing
there are two ways to pair two axis motors.
one is with software the other is with hardware. this is explained in the Acorn Pairing manual.
here. https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... _guide.pdf
found here.

the c86 board can hardware pair two motors, if you choose hardware pairing then by definition you have chosen to not Auto Square. A requirement of Auto Square is the control must have individual control of each of the motors on the gantry so it can move them independently so it can square the gantry. read over the pairing manual for more info on this.

Re: Problem homing
I just want to say thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I had tried searching and finding the answer on my own to not bother anyone but couldn’t figure it out. That was such a simple manual to follow and worked like a charm. My problem is I didn’t build the machine so trying to diagnose everything can be difficult when none of the wiring was labeled. Thank you again!
