Does the info in the CNC11 lathe software manual .pdf apply to CNC12 & the VCP? More specifically, do the instructions on how to assign functions to the "Aux" buttons w/CNC11 apply to the "soft" buttons on the VCP as well? Also, Is it possible to change the appearance of the button itself from "Aux" to something else that reflects the function it calls?

Yes, it does, I believe the sharp guys at Centroid have on their list to do something about the Aux Button Layout and how to change it. We all gotta crawl before we run.
Centroid has a big show called PRI in December they have to concentrate most their efforts on, then after that is over, I think they'll be back working on Acorn. For now, we have to live with Aux, just use a sticky note for now to remind you

Sorry, I forgot to ask this in the O.P.: While watching the younger, darker haired Keith in the mill demo video, I noticed he's repeatedly turning the feed rate down with a manual pot on the earlier version control panel. Is it possible to do this with an external pot added to an Acorn? I thought I'd go ahead & throw that in if some VCP trickery needs to be done while the "Aux" key mods are done down the road.

That's an interesting question but I bet not.
You can use VCP to reduce the feedrate and then pop it right back to 100% and on the fly I might add.
How are your projects coming along Milton?

I'm making progress...slowly. Mainly trying to get my head on straight after the change from Mach. It took me a couple years to be able to consistently make decent parts with Mach. Hopefully it'll go quicker from here. I hope to try cutting a thread this weekend...maybe.
