Beginner new to Centroid need information.

Post by tinteacher »

I am new to Centroid and trying to learn the basics to upload files and set up and prepare for cutting. I have a retrofit plasma table and I am not able to find any videos or direction sheets anywhere for my new cutting system. Can you direct me to where I can find the basics of a new user to become familiar with the system.
I am not new to using a plasma table program and have self-taught myself on several different machines in the past just by reading the direction sheets but so far I have not found anything I can learn from.
Please advise.

Welcome to the forum. Have you read through the plasma install/users manual? There is a lot of info in this manual that explains the Profile Manager and how it's used to cut various metals and what all the buttons on the VCP do. I'd read the entire manual first but starting on page 41 is where the VCP is explained.

Here's a link to the install manual:
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... manual.pdf

From the VCP you can load your cut file and then select the proper material from the Profile manager. Start here and this will get you familiar with all the buttons in front of you.

I currently have the plasma table running and moving accurately. I am trying to tie in the hypertherm 1000 G3 and cannot find anything related to the signal wires coming from the unit. GREEN, RED, WHITE, and BLACK.
I assume I can tie them directly into the Acorn to turn on the Plasma Torch without the Acorn THC. I read through the forum and cannot find any info that leads to a good answer. Any pointers would be great. Thank you in advance.

You'd have to look at the Centroid schematic page, not the forum. Since I don't know what boards you do have here's a link to the PLASMA schematics and one without THC.

For the wires and colors coming off the Hypertherm you'd have to look in the Hypertherm manuals.
