so this may be a stupid question but i have the acorn board and im using a db25 bob but the board and the bob both have the threaded stud with female nut i figured i could just take one off and put a screw but the threads are soldered to the board im assuming for sheild termination so whats the best wat to connect these?

The jack screws in the ACORN should unscrew easily. The shielding will be less than ideal when using a breakout board anyway. Just run the drain wire to H9 EGND or an ACORN mounting hole.

yes they unscrew easily but now both sides (the acorn board and the db25 male b.o.b) have the threaded tab soldered to pcb ?

I ran into this with my DB25. I left the Acorn side alone. On the DB25 I pulled out the threaded standoff/hex, and then ran screws, 4-40 though the BD25 and into the Acorn female hex.

thanks, that's probably the route I will take unless I come up with a better idea, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one that ran into this issue it's a small inconvenience but I'm very detail oriented and have spent a lot of time and effort into getting my control box together that little things like this would drive me crazy!

It is certainly annoying. I was unable to find any DB25 that would have the correct male screws.

You also purchase 4-40 captive screws from DigiKey that are made for this purpose. They come in 2 lengths
