on the wiring diagram for my driver it shows home all/limit switches into input one ran in series. with this wiring will the switches work as limit stops or just for homing

If the input is called "HomeAll", then they are just home switches, and will not act as limit switches.

If you use the "HomeAll" switches to home the machine, and you set your software travel limits correctly, then the control will generally prevent you from moving outside the machines travels.

Notable exceptions to that are:
1) If you are jogging the machine before you have homed it
2) If the machine has lost position, due to dropped or bogus command pulses between Acorn and the drive,
or due to slippage in the drive train, or, in the case of open-loop steppers, due to stalling the stepper motor.

I agree, set the input as "homeall" for the limits switches in series and then set your soft travel limits in the wizard and it'll work perfectly.......everytime.

I had a prior thread on this, and am hoping to see a HomeLimitAll added to the list of choices. I am running open loop, so soft limits become more questionable.

Not if the machine is setup properly.

If you drive your car properly, you don't need seat belts.

If you manage your household properly, you don't need fire extinguishers.

If the posts on this forum are any indication, a substantial number of Acorn installations are apparently not "setup properly", because they lose position. Limit switches can protect against equipment damage when that happens.
