I like Magnetic Breakaway combined with sliding head (Floating Head) better than the China round mounts. We have Magnetic Breakaway on our in house plasma test mule machine.

photo below shows magnetic mount combined with floating head (the little slide that the Magnetic mount is mounted to.) Ultimate protection combined with accurate Floating Head Torch touch off performance.

Once you try the round mount you see it good also fewer moving parts to cause problems. As a diy it harder more work cost to go mag mount. and do float . float part requires linear slide so it doesn't shake. and really good switch setup. That mag mount your using like 400 bucks. the china round 100 no slide and sensor . they both have there usage. yours can do bevel cut it tilt.

look at the pic good That float switch going to load up with water dirt looks like your float part has some sort of v roller ? using weight of torch to hold it down no spring tension ?

I use a magnetic break away too. It is a Snap 'N Cut and then just mounted a ip65 rated micro switch just now.

When I bought the mount it was $99. Why the heck are these several hundred dollars now??!!

Several hundred? :o That is way to expensive for a simple magnetic breakaway. You can buy a real nice breakaway/floating round mount with built in proximity sensors for under $100 online.

Bob makes a very nice head with 3 prox switches, check his out that Joey linked to.

2 hours? You gave up on Google too soon.

Here's a link to the Chinese made one with 2 prox sensors. You simply modify the mounting plate (cut the back half off and bolt it back on at 90°) and mount it to your Z axis. $87 shipped from China.

Thanks Shawn I forgot about the Chinese option. I believe that's what Jeff uses. He has pictures and info about it on his thread. Link to his thread is https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=6423
