Hi,
I am building homemade cnc router using acorn. It will have four dmm dyn 4 motors. Potentially a rotary axis at some point, maybe an ATC, yadda yadda yadda.
Anyways as you know stuff starts to add up and im trying to save some cost on the electrical enclosure/ control panel. Would something like this work for me.
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ ... 25923.html
I contacted DMM and they said I need a about 220mm (8.5") of depth.
Thanks again everyone

Panovic,
I have 3 x Dyn4, 1 x Leadshine, 1 x Spindle + Transformer in a 600W (24") x 800H (31.5") x 250D (10").
Everything fits but a little more room would be nice. But that is a reasonably cheap cabinet you list there.
Photo attached, please excuse the mess its still a work in progress.
Regards,
Michael

Thanks for the pic! Here I thought the one I listed was way to big. I cant believe the cost of just the cabinets if purchased new. I think Ill go ahead and buy the cabinet then. Thank you.

I don't think there is really such a thing as too big.
To get decent cable control & ventilation space around your drives you will use all of it.
Potentially you could have up to 6 drives in the cabinet with 4 axis, spindle & toolchanger.
The extra depth of the one you listed would be handy to layout the Ether1616 on the back of the door.

Panovak,
You might start ONE thread and ask all your questions within it, then it can be YOUR build thread. Instead of creating multiple topics
I buy my components, lay them out on a bench then measure the size cabinet needed.
I like using Zoro.com. You can buy them with a cover (Cheaper) or with a door (more expensive) I then gasket the cover or door. I buy with NO knockouts.
You need all your major components before you buy any enclosure. You buy that safety switch and then find your parts don't fit, you are out $75
Don't cheap out on something like this. Buy once, cry once.
Not sure if this link will work:
