Left Hand Threading <answered>

Will CNC 12 4.12 do left hand threading? I looked through the Lathe manual and didn't see anything about left hand threading.

Yes CNC12 4.12 will do left hands threads.

The spindle direction will determine the hand of thread.

I am assuming your tools are front mount so 1.) would be how the threading tool be set up. I also explained the rear mounting option also with 2.) just in case you are rear mounted.

1.) For Front mount tools for left hand threads you need to use a left hand threading tool mounted up side down with the tool on center and use a M4 for spindle direction.

2.) For rear mount tools this depends on how the tool post is set up.
If the normal cutting tools are mount upside down using right hand tools for cutting using a M3 for spindle direction then you use a left handed tool mount right side up with a M4 for spindle direction.
If the tools in the rear mount are left hand tools mount right side up the you would use a left hand tool mounted the same way and use the same spindle direction as the OD cutting tools.
