Starting a thread to get advice and document my conversion.

Converting a tork cnc 6x12 with auto tool changer and laser (yes jumping in the deep end!). Going with acorn 6 with RS422 daughterboard.

Have not started to remove warp9 ess yet.

Any advice on getting started would be appreciated!

great, thanks for making a build thread. Looks like a great machine to put an AcornSix on.
please post a link to the Leadshine L7 users manual you have.
we are close to a public beta of v5.4, i'd start with this version since it has a bunch of nice improvements for machines with software paired axes using two new M codes M294 and M295 which make both setting up and operation of the homing/autosquaring sequence a joy to work with.
among a long list of other new features and improvements!

Please start a photo album for all your pics so they are in one place. The best way is to use a free online photo album service like Google Photos. Upload large high resolution images to the Google Photos, create an Album, put all your photos in one album and click "share" and then "get link" and copy the link it generates and post in your thread, then any one with the link can view the photos.

You can post photos directly to the forum using the Attachment tab. but we would prefer you us a online photo album and post the link to it so all your images will be in one spot, not spread over a bunch of posts. Having all the photos in one location makes it easier for all to understand your project and give you good advice.

Are the servos now wired to RS422?

Do you know the physical rev/inch ratio of all axes?

Do you have Motion Studio to read the current settings of the servos?

the machine is currently using warp9. I am changing not because not happy with machine, but working on new custom control software based on the Centriod API that will provide a much cleaner and more modern interface for controlling my CNC. Not sure I will release my software, but just frustrated with how all the current software used with warp9 is arranged... I am a recovering software engineer and can't help but think it could be so much better. So, first step is to get my 3 cnc machines converted so I can start to work on my new CNC UI software using Centroid's API.

not sure if anyone is following.... but anyways...

I got the acorn six board. its HUGE. wont fit where old one was, so, adding a 16x20 cabinet on top. hope it does not look home made.

Spent a few hours in Mach4 trying to figure out the mapping of all the old wiring so I can label the wires before I remove from old board.

Attached is the document that I made for this.
