I would like to upgrade the spindle on my PM-25 to the DMM DYN4 servo. I have read and reviewed the videos and comments about system upgrades or new installs using the DMM DYN4. I understand the procedure for a system upgrade, but since I will not be adding a new axis I'm confused about enabling under the advanced tab in Wizard. I am now using the KBSI 240 board for my spindle control. If I upgrade to the DYN4 driver will I still be use the KBSI 240 for spindle control? And how can the drive be enabled? Any help will be appreciated since this upgrade is very expensive.

As a servo drive, the DYN4 should be pretty easy to control using analog inputs and velocity mode. Make sure you get the analog/step and direction model.

You'd wire the Acorn analog output to the DYN4 drive's JP4 pins 13 and 25.

Set up one of the drive inputs as the "servo enable" and wire the Acorn's spindle enable signal to that input. This is probably JP4 pin 15 by default.
