Sorry for a new thread but the touch screen monitors thread in tech tips has been locked by admins. That is okay, but then how can we update and share info as things move on?

The much touted TD2211 Viewsonic seemingly is not available outside the USA. I understand that a single touch resistive screen is the best option but what are the alternatives people have found outside the USA for suitable screens?
The only alternative resistive screen I've managed to find in the size range is this one:

Is Projected Capacitive (PCAP) the new tech for POS screens, or Infra red? It seems they are now the most common touch screen tech, resistive seems obsolete. I've been thinking of this one perhaps:

Viewsonic seem to have moved on to VA tech, whatever that is, but it uses IR for multi-touch, so I guess that may get round problems with false triggering of capacitive screens. I think this is their replacement for the TD2211, anyone got thoughts on this alternative:

Anyone got any thoughts on suitable touch screen monitors around 22" available outside the USA?

Yes it works very well. Thats what I use and what Hypertherm uses in their controls. In particular ELO. They are definity more pricey maybe by 3-400% but have a glass screen and work well in a dirty production shop environment. But dont spatter it with hot molten metal. They are tough but some things will take their toll. lol Take a look at ELO if thats in your budget. If you have a production shop it will probably be worth it.

Just opened your link. Its actually in very similar price range. This is to be mounted in a console but they build stand alone monitors as well.
Example below.

Many thanks for the feedback. It seems ELO are tricky to get here in Australia but good to know PCAP work in the shop environment. Noted not to let the wife weld or grind near the screen
A bit more research over the next few days then I think it's time to get a screen, keyboard and touch pad ordered

Lol, I was thinking that this was still in the Plasma section. Not that Id weld or grind on in but, that will be far more forgiving spraying it Piercing some 2" plate. The thicker the plate the more volcanic reaction you recieve!

If you're on a mill or lathe you're golden.

All,
The original topic is now unlocked, if you want to continue discussion there or here. New topics that are related to old topics are fine as long as they reference the original and we even encourage it in situations where you have a similar problem or machine and you don't want to hijack the existing thread.
If your post is seen and appreciated then users should 'like' it, which will push it to the top of the search results related to touch screens.

Well I took the leap and ordered the FEC LD9022 PCAP monitor, so I will report back when I have it set up and tested on the mill!
