is the Gecko G320X Digital Servo Drive compatible with the acorn control?

Has anyone tried using the cncdrive DG4S-08020 drive with the Acorn? The DG4S has some nice tuning software that would seem to take a bit of the guesswork out of it as opposed to the Gecko G320x, which they suggest tuning by ear or with a oscilloscope (expensive).

I would be interested in hearing what you guys think of the two drives purely from the specs. If the Gecko G320x is just a better drive, then I don't mind going through the trouble of picking up or renting an oscilloscope for tuning.

One thing I did notice is the Gecko does not seem to support a full quadrature encoder? I only see connections for A, B but no A-, B-. Thoughts?

I don't see why not. I will be helping a friend with his 2x2 router using these drives.
As far as the encoder outputs, single channel usually works for short run cables.
Dual channel outputs are more immune to noise and will output in Quadrature.
It depends on your amplifier.

I would be very interested in hearing how the 2x2 router comes along. I will probably pick up one of the DG4S drives and see if I can get a servo on my RoboTool to run with it. If successful I will grab a couple more drives and get the whole machine running on them.

Are you guys planning on using the DB25 port to connect the DG4S drives?

by the way what are you referring to as the amplifier?

Sorry, I use servo drive and amplifier interchangeably.
May be January sometime before we get on with the router.
Have a Shizouka knee mill to help another friend with too...
