Any interest in a servo that functions as a spindle motor and C axis?

I have been talking to the folks at DMM about their Dyn4 servo drive. They can modify their AC servo drive to switch from "analog mode"(speed control) via 0-10vdc from Acorn to "Step and direction mode" via an input pin.
Essentially you could have a spindle motor and a "C" axis with the flip of a switch.
If the motor is selected correctly you can have a "C" axis without dual motors, drives and mounts etc.
I'm not sure how it would work when the C axis has to be stationary and using a live tool to mill flats, but it should work fine while the C axis is in motion. My guess is it will work in either case.
I'm trying to convince them there is a market for this change in their drive, and they only have to do it once. If there is no real interest here, then they really only will have to do it once, but I have to pay for it. LOL
So, any interest?

I'm a little confused. I didn't ask them about being able to switch between taking step/direction input and 0-10v input. All my questions were specifically about using their stuff for a spindle motor.
So are you saying they have to mod the motor (or is it the drive?) at the factory to be able to do one or the other? That would kind of be a bummer in case I wanted to repurpose something in the future.

Sorry, this would ADD functionality. Their Servo drive can run like a VFD now when in analog mode.
Currently you can use their drive like a VFD OR a servo, However the drive has to be switched manually via a computer cable and software. So it's one or the other.
I asked them if they could modify the firmawre to switch via an input. This would allow C axis control through Gcode/PLC and VFD through Gcode/PLC.

I would be interested in the info. I don't have a current project, but it sure would have made a previous project much simpler. It was a combo CNC wood lathe and a rotary 4th axis machine made for a custom lamp builder. I ended up using a 1200ozin stepper and a ClearPath MVMC servo for rotary cutting and turning respectively. Motor swap was accomplished with a "knuckledragger transmission" (aka belt swap).
