In the manual, it states that if you Jog X+ the table moves towards X-. However it does not explain the Y movement. The Z axis movement is the same for any milling machine. But what about that Y ? is it the same as the X axis, if I jog Y+ the bed moves towards Y- or is it like the Z axis, in which if i jog Z- the machine moves to Z-.
can anyone please answer. Also can i use my home switches as limit switches so the same switches do both jobs, if so do i just need to to add a second Com input to the acorn board as per the diagram.

The Y should follow the same logic as the X axis.

The simple answer is yes you can use the same switch to do limit and home, obviously only at one end of each axis! The other end limit is done in the software setup. Have a look at my posts towards the end of page 7 on that link above as it has a link to the suggested wiring setup. Hope that helps.

This depends on the type of machine we're talking about. Please post some images and/or info about your machine so we can better understand what you're working with.

Regardless of the design of the machine, axis directions represent tool movement through the part.

If the tool is cutting from the left side of the part toward the right side of the part, that is X+ movement.
If the tool is cutting from the front of the part toward the back of the part, that is Y+ movement.

Thanks. However if you look at the picture from the manual it looks to me that if you are cutting the movement of the bed is traveling in the negative direction and not the positive. so if you press X+ the table moves towards X-. I am asking if this is the same for the Y axis.

The directions are cutter movements, not table movements...

Y+ makes the cutter move towards the column, or the table move towards the operator.

You always base your axis jog buttons on what the spindle is doing. Not the table.
Not all machines are like the image in the manual. Gantry style machines the spindle moves.. So you always base X+ on if the tool / spindle is moving + on the part. The same with Y.
