Spindle Fault

All,

I have had to upgrade my system from 4.5 to 5.10. This was because I had an xml error in microsoft. That aside, after the upgrade and redoing all of my settings from photos, I finally got it working, all except this spindle fault. When the spindle is activated, whether using the spindle start or an M3 in the MDI, I get the error. I have not changed any wiring nor any settings from the previous system. I just put in what i had from my photos of the wizard.

I will attempt to post all info. I also posted my VFD book and settings. Im quite stumped on this.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you need to revert the spindle ok input

Uwe meant to say "invert" the spindle ok input. :D Switch it from NC to NO or visa-versa. Look at your old photos from 4.5 and see what color the circle is for your "SpindleOk" input. Then on your 5.1 install make sure the circle for input 6, which is where it's wired to now, is the same color. If you need to switch it just click the number 6 circle to invert it.

However, if you are not getting a spindle fault until you try to start the spindle running, it is more likely that the problem is in the VFD parameters or with your wiring.

It sounds like you have a VFD output that means "drive running" or "drive stopped", and you have it wired to a PLC input you have designated as "drive okay".

All is well until the spindle starts to run. Then the VFD changes its relay to show that it is running, and the PLC interprets that as a fault.
