I selected the Utils button on the VCP and it showed 3 selections. I tried number 3 but I didn't see where it did anything. What am I missing?

Was your machine homed? What happened after you entered 3 and pressed enter?

Machine was homed. After pressing #3 I proceeded to locate my spindle in the middle of my material and marked the location. hit enter and jogged the laser to the previously marked location, hit enter and a message said the procedure was successful. That it

That function set the offset between your spindle and laser. What you described sounds like normal operation.
