On my YAKO stepper drives I don't see anything about number of steps/pulses like I do on the stepperonline driver that I was bench testing. Soo, I really don't know what to set in the wizard.

The old XHC board had step and direction and the wiring is still in place and I plan to just switch that over to Acorn. Seems easy enough.

Fingers crossed.

nope, not so simple. I hooked up one drive to DB25 and not working.

What drive models are they? There will be a table on one of the large panels that lists what the settings are. It might say it as "Division Setting Table" or something else if it does not say "Microstepping" or "Steps / Rev".

If the numbers are less than 200 then you will have to do a little math assuming that the motors have 200 steps/rev. So, if the table says x4 microstepping then you would have 200 steps / rev * 4 = 800 steps / rev total.

We can help sort out the wiring but please provide pictures of the drives, wiring, and at least the model of the drives. A report from CNC12 with the current configuration will also help us help you.

I think I need to get a 5v wired up somewhere as well.

How do you have it wired?

DB25 provides 5V drive on the signals. If the Yako drive provides 5V to the PU+ and DR+ terminals then you should not need to apply power there. However, it is likely that you will need to apply 5V to those terminals.

I would verify the positions of DP1 and DP2 switches. I would expect both DP1 and DP2 set to OFF. Not sure what the 7.5 kHz pulse by driver is but it does not seem relevant to our uses.

If I were wiring this up, I would try these connections:
Acorn DB25 step to Yako PU-
Acorn DB25 direction to Yako DR-
Acorn power supply +5V to Yako PU+
Acorn power supply +5V to Yako DR+

If that works then try this for the drive enable signals:
Acorn H2 and H3 enables to Yako MF-
Acorn power supply +5V to Yako MF+

For fault reporting to the Acorn, try this:
Acorn drive fault input to Yako FL+
Acorn power supply common to Yako FL-

They used cheap DB15 connectors and I noticed one had a broken wire. I ordered new DB15's I will draw a schematic showing what I have now, but I think it is much similar to what you are saying. I need to check and verify the 5v as well. Tomorrow I need to do some house plumbing then I will get back into this a bit later in the day.

The wiring on the YAKO drives was just like you suggested. I needed to hook up the 5v supply. I got one axis working.

What I need to know now is what I should be setting up in the wizard.

I have a lot of cleanup to do with the DB15 chinese crap, but the basic wiring works.

Next will be the proximity switches

Steps / rev should be set corresponding to the 16 position rotary switch on the drive. If you cannot figure out what the setting should be, please post a picture of the drives showing that switch and we'll be able to tell you.

I will do that.

For now, I am waiting for a couple of items to arrive and some other stuff to get done. The DB15 connectors, wiring the prox switches, Mounting the power supplies( one from centroid plus a 12v power supply) and some cleanup. It's all just a bit messy just now.

I want to get the basic wiring done so the machine is operational, then I will need to start optimizing all the settings.

Your help has been fantastic

While I am waiting for items to come in I will upgrade to the Router license.

I still have MILL setup in the CNC12 install.

How do I backup all my settings in mill so that I can know what needs to be set up when I reinstall the Router License
