The link I posted from Amazon (US) are the resistive monitors. They still make them, they had a chip shortage that was affecting supply. They had hoped to have them back in stock at some of their resellers by now. (I spoke with their sales team) I thought it was discontinue so I reached out.

TD2210 is a good monitor. Gary turned me on to it some time ago.

I purchased a ViewSonic TD2210 that arrived a couple of days ago. I'm wondering about the pressure required to activate it. I understand the "resistive" aspect is to minimize accidental activation but I'm having to press repeatedly to get it to trigger. I'm using the stand it comes with which has more flex than I would like - wondering if it needs to be held more firmly? With little experience of control touch screens - I'm needing to figure out if it's a defective unit or me? I got it through Amazon so returning is easy enough but it was a bit challenging to find one. Perhaps I should make a video of how it's behaving?
Appreciate any tips and input. Thanks.

Sounds like a bad one. Simple press is all that is needed. I use a VESA mounting bracket that screws to the back of the monitor.

I'm happy to report it turned out to be the flexi mount. As soon as I stabilized it, it got more responsive.

Good to hear. So the monitor was moving when you pressed on it?

Exactly. A combination of the stand it came with and it was on a pivoting adjustable stand that used to hold a laptop. Both together were just too much flex. I a rigged a temporary support of it, and it started working fine. I'll have to keep looking for a more permanent solution. It's good to know its not the unit.

An update to this thread. It seems that, at least outside the USA, getting hold of the Viewsonic single point resistive screen is very difficult. That tech is also becoming hard to source (impossible in Australia it seems) and a lot of point of sale and industrial touch screen systems are changing to PCAP multipoint.

My touch screen arrived, it is a PCAP type, 22" by FEC, who I've never heard of but thought it was worth a shot. Model number LD-9022W, from this place in Australia at AU$699 delivered, althought its gone up since then by the look of it:

There are lots of mount holes on the back so plenty of options for me to sort out how to fix it. First job though was to do a quick temporary job on the old Bridgeport console arm so I can mess about with ergonomics before I build a proper housing to include the e-stop and on/off buttons too that are also temp mounted.





There was no setup, I just plugged it all in and it worked. In the pic the protective shipping plastic is over the screen so it looks a bit odd, that can stay on until I have it finish mounted. Anyway all good so far, nice and bright, clear images and the touch works very well, no need to press hard.



After a week of using it every day its never false triggered and works great, very happy with it. It works with gloves on and so far it hasn't had any false triggers from coolant splashes, which for me is important and I don't have any shielding between the spindle and the screen at the moment.

That's a point!
I hope CNC12 will work with WIN10 for a looong time in the future! Because buying a good, big and up-to-date Touch-PC would be VERY expensive^^
Most of the older ones won't install Win11 because of the TPM-!§%$! Even with "the cheat"... when the day comes and Microsoft closes that door, it's over. Nothing you wan't to experience on your control-PC.
One more reason to me, why a CNC-PC shouldn't have a connection to the internet and be able to get himself updates (that i haven't copied there and installed myself).

Oh, and jtm:
If someone encounters problems with capacitive touch-technology, check if the device is grounded to earth correctly. The touch-display needs the "connection" from the display over your finger to earth and back to the display to work as expected. We had some issues with this behaviour in our company with capacitive-screens on our tower-cars. After installing additional grounding-straps and grounding the displays correctly, everything worked like a charme, much more reliable and precise interaction as before.

I just bought two capacitive (industrial) AllinOne-PCs for CNC12. Got them used, they are from PICOS, a german company that builds water- and dustproof, passive-cooled PCs with security-glass-touchscreen like that:

Very nice stuff, but priceless for hobby...

From time to time, they become sold in big numbers, for example when a bowling- or snack-bar closes or something like that.
And... HEAVY! 11kg without problems^^
