Any suggestions?

1.) remove any software or hardware pairing of axes

2.) disconnect all step, direction and enable wires from the AcornSix.

3) connect one drive/motor test it.

4.) then individually add another and one by one test as you go along.

5.) if you find the issue described above on one of the drive connections, move that connection to another axis on the AcornSix and retest, does it follow the move? or?

Well, it took a while to find out what was wrong, but we've found the problem.
With an oscilloscope we found out that the signal on the DIR cable to stepper driver should be at an constant high voltage (like 24V) and our dir connection was low (under 5V) every once in a while, on that moment the driver thinks he should rotate in the other direction. this is for a very short period but long enough to make the steppers noisy en not accurate.
The company where we bought the acornSix contacted centroid and they've installed new firmware onto the Acornsix board.
Immediatly atfer installation all the problem were gone.

Now it's finally time to enjoy the machine and make incredible stuff :)

Thanks for all the advise and help anyway!

"New software" meaning reloading existing code, a more recent release, or a patched version to deal with this issue?

hello. thanks for reporting back.
i'll shed more light on this issue. AcornSix only, and it only happens with certain drives and about 50 AcornSix units got out the door with the firmware that has this issue with those certain drives. Tell tale sign is Good motion in one direction but not good in the other direction. Solution is to reflash the AcornSix on board firmware (you need a programmer to do this) so, if you have an AcornSix that needs this rare firmware upgrade we can do a swap out of your unit. contact support@centroidcnc.com for an RMA.
