I sort of "split the difference" and got this one for $250 - https://a.co/d/gJoQYTo (Beelink EQi12-/1220P/16G/500G with Windows 11). Single core Passmark is 3400 or so, so there's some headroom available, and it outperforms the 1235 on the more expensive Beelink linked above.

Re: MPG problems
New install on wiped computer after third install the mpg stayed for 3 days so far. Had to run to the customer and install new computer so that they were convinced the problem had gone away. Working all afternoon. I have been posting but my post are not showing up.
