Re: X-Axis will not jog after homing <resolved>
Hello,
Apparently, not resolved.
Started the machine this morning, Acorn and CNC12. Was able to jog all axes and home the machine. Was able to jog all axes immediately after homing. Left it running while I fed the dog and ate lunch. Came back and now the x-axis won't jog. Shut everything down and restarted. X-axis won't jog and can't home the machine. Exact same behavior it exhibited when I first described this problem at the beginning of the thread.
Now have CNC12 V4.64 loaded. Was working fine all afternoon yesterday.
Seems that I still have the same problem.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Mike

CNC Maryland,
I misunderstood what you were referring to. I think I found the Motor Parameters that you were talking about. I have attached a screenshot. If I have the correct page, you believe that I should change the Limit Switch Values to Zero here?
Regards,
Mike

Re: X-Axis will not jog after homing <resolved>
Hello,
Removed the values from the Limits in the Motor Parameter Table.
Was able to home the machine and jog all axes immediately afterward. Wait 15 minutes and the x-axis won't jog.
No change.
Updated report attached.

Mike

Since you are the thread starter, just edit the first post and change the thread title.
Cheers,

Re: X-Axis will not jog after homing.<NOT Resolved>
Hello,
This morning I started the machine, Acorn and CNC12. I could jog all three axes. Homed the machine. The Z and Y axes moved to their home positions. This time, the X axis did not move. In the past, I was able to home the machine one time and then the X axis would not move. Shut everything down and restarted. I can jog the Z and Y axes, but not the X axis.
Yesterday, I wondered if something could be happening to the X axis stepper motor after initially working but failing to move after homing and being powered up for 15-20 minutes. I hooked the Y axis input to the X axis and was able to jog the X axis motor. I left the machine running for several hours and jogged the X axis over the course of the day every time I walked past the machine. Pretty sure that the stepper motor is fine. This machine only has 125-150 hours on it according to the previous owner. I have no reason to doubt that as the machine appears like new. I also exchanged the X and Y axis cables again and I could jog the X axis with the Y axis VCP inputs and X axis motor cable, so I don't think that is the problem either.
Current report is attached.
Thanks for any help!
Regards,
Mike

Re: X-Axis will not jog after homing.<NOT Resolved>
- please use the Wizard to setup the cnc control, changing cnc12 parameters at this point is asking for trouble.
- looking at the error log, lots of "05-14-2022 14:15:41 455 Spindle axis(5) encoder quadrature error"
- photos of machine, axis motors, switches, cabinet components and connections would be worth thousands of words.
