For the SOL CL57Y this shows header instead of DB25.
I see this is using 24V signal.
I had it that way, and was advised to move to DB25.
Which is best?
Rob.
Rob,
As a courtesty, always post a link to the drive manual....
Here it is:

That drive is a little unique in that its input voltage is 5-24VDC.
I would still recommend using the DB25 port for that drive. But you could try and use the headers. You would supply +24VDC to these pins on the drive:
+Pul
+Dir
+ENA
You would take
-Pul to Acorn header
-Dir to Acorn header
-Ena to Acorn header
You may have to invert the ENA signal in the Advanced section of the Wizard. Depends on whether or not when the drive is powered up, if the motor rotor is locked or not. If it is, then invert it.
Good luck with your project. Let us know what works best for you.

cl57y is a rare stepper drive that uses 24 step/dir signal so it runs just fine on the screw terminals.
rule of thumb is easy..
5 volt drives use db25
24 volt drives use screw terminals

Quick question, if the cl57y’s are powered up with 24v and the steppers motors are running off of 24v, is there any good reason to use the small 24v,1amp power supply that comes with the acorn vs powering everything off 1 -24v power supplies?
Thanks

To minimize noise problems, it's best to separate the control and drive power supplies.

As Tom mentioned. Keep logic and motor drive power supplies separate. Centroid sent you a logic power supply to use with Acorn, use it. You can mount it on end if you are short of space.
