Power supply for the brake. Use the control to release the brake as soon as the control is commanded to move the axis. Usually, jogging, MDI, or homing. If the control faults, or Estop is hit, the power is removed from the brake and the brake is applied.

The brake on the motor should be energized by the control.to release it.
I have a DMM motor with a brake, but no time yet to work with it.

Hello Dale
I have my DMM servo Brake wired into a output that releases the brake when the servos are enabled. I have DMM 750W with Brake on the Z.

I am using DMM cables

Active low checked in The DMM Drive software, Step and direction checked in the Wizzard and enable checked in the wizard Testing at 200 Khz. I used the DMM Auto tune software and its had some problems 2 out of 3 tuned no problem X axis did not. Not sure why it works fine within Acorn so i just set the values manually. I can take a picture of the Brake wiring later today or Friday when i get back to the shop

Dale,
You will need a seperate 24 volt supply and a contactor switch to release the brake. Wire it so that the brake is released by one of the outputs provided by Acorn. You need to set the output to Z axis brake release. When you hit the cycle button Acorn will activate the brake release output. When you have it all setup correctly Z axis brake will release automatically.
