and yes, you use those Virtual LED's on the advanced i/o menu to know whether an input is closed or not and if an output is on or not. etc
if you change them be sure to set the virtual led inputs or outputs back to their normal state, newbies tend to leave them on or inverted and wonder why their stuff doesn't work
note: a future versions of this scout expansion board will have LED on it for both inputs and outputs.

Cnckeith; the build is a Fryer et-18 easy turn. This machine has beautiful unused ways but it was filthy.
It took some time to take everything apart and clean it.
The lathe was powered by a 30A 3phase 240v. I decided to rebuilt the whole system using: two Teknic 240v single phase servos, a Fuling VFD and of course an AcornSix, USB-BOB and an PLCEXT1616 extension card. The need of extra axis, encoder inputs, and I/O is because I intend to add more to the system like: turret, spindle. Etc.
I have almost everything running, and now I need to make the high/low gear switch work with the programmed (S xxxx) g code speed. I am working on macro41 and macro43.” Suntravel” send me copy of what he did for his machine and I will see if that will help my specific task. If not, you will hear from me.
The Mill (Southers industry Trak) and the Router (AXYZ 4008) with the ATC are all working great. I will have to update to CNC12 5.22 and bring them up to date.
Thank you and the forum for the help.
