we have a shars manual quick change post on our techno lathe and it works great. pretty dead simple and fast to use as well.

Agreed. A large Bridgeport Romi CNC lathe I had was the same way. Large Dorian QC tool post.

The gang tool set up always impressed me in any videos I have seen. Aloris type or indexing type tool post definitely would work well and with a high degree of accuracy .
I think if I had my lathe converted an ready for a test drive I would impatiently put my existing tool post on ( home made Aloris type ) at first just so I could make chips sooner. Then consider other options. I am assuming you have a tool post for the lathe,if not then the gang tool option I think would be my choice.
Keep us updated on your progress

I think I will do both. So you can have toolpost and gang setup. I'm making the whole carriage from scratch anyway. As all I got was headstock and ways when I acquired it. I'm just on the hunt for a tee slotted table or similar to make the cross slide from.
cheers

I put 2 AXA wedge style QCTP's on my little ORAC; front & rear. It could run 2 tools at the same time and was surprisingly repeatable when switching among the 20 tools. I also made a gang tool holder that clamped into both QCTP's and a tool holder with a cross-drill attachment as well. (24 vdc motor w/ER16 chuck running on 36 vdc. All these widgets' offsets were patiently set up in Mach3's Tool Table. Not looking forward to re-doing all that with Acorn but it'll be worth it.

I hope linking to other sites is OK here as I don't have time to find pictures & post here:

Couldn't find the twin-post thread so you'll have to take my word until I get it finished & working again.

You didn't just say TIME did to find pictures and post here did you?

What I saw looks pretty cool and does help with the idea process...

A little more progress - encoder mounted and saddle/apron coming on. Acorn on its way from Florida soon. Things left to purchase:
tool holding, computer, power supply, coolant system, chuck, splashback etc etc
