Laser firing at wrong time <Resolved, use PWM2 output>

Post by kman1967 »

I have a Lasertree K60 on my machine. It seems to fire at odd times when it is not supposed to and doesn't in other times when it should.
I have tried lots of different programs. I attached a screenshot of the default Centroid logo program. Using AcornSix.

The cable going to the laser is shielded.

If you run the same program again, does it occur in the same spots? Are the durations of the incorrect on/off periods consistent?

If there is no pattern or any similarity, then I would suspect it is a noise issue. If there is some kind of pattern with the timing or locations, then I would suspect a bug in the PLC or software.

I haven't seen any particular pattern when it happens. I will run this program again multiple times and see what happens. I have noticed it appears more when feed speeds are higher and there are frequent on/off cycles

i don't want to send you down a bunny trail, but there have been lots of changes and improvements since version 5.10 that you are using especially with AcornSix related to Laser/pwm. im not saying the software is the issue here but, would be great to get this machine on the latest version of CNC12 so we are all using the same version which makes things easier to figure out. open the Wizard press CTRL P (at the same time) and print the wizard menus to a PDF. install the latest CNC12 and then open that wizard and use that info in the PDF to setup the new wizard.

which PWM outputs are you using on the acornsix?

I will upgrade the software this weekend. I am on PWM1.
I have checked the signal with scope and it looks good.

Sun travel: The sample I took the picture of is the sample Gcode that installs with CNC12. The Centroid logo

Uwe is right. The PWM2 is for the sintering with the laser, i.e. as it is the PWM signal in question.

I was reading some of the older documentation. Does one still need to clip the number two Relay wire or has that been a thing of the past in recent times?

Sorry, for the AcornSix it there a difference between PWM1 and PWM2 as to functionality or capabilities. Would be a nice easy fix just swaping that.

You will need the update also, after 5.10 the PLC was changed for the laser
