Looks like a great machine. The info I Googled on it said it came originally with Mach3 control software & Nema 34 stepper motors so yes, I think you'd be happy with an Acorn installation. You may be able to use the stepper drivers as well. You'll have to obtain an encoder & mount it. Post lotsa pics if you get it!

Re: Novakon CNC lathe NL-150
I did not see it yet, but the info I have says it had a VFD for speed control and belt driven. Dont know if it is flat cog belt or just plain V belt. If it a v belt the encoder would be worthless. it says it had rigid taping? there is not a lot of info about them anywhere. I have a new Haas CNC lathe, and a Millport with a Centriod M400 . Just looking to play with a small CNC lathe while the Haas is running.

Re: Novakon CNC lathe NL-150
-I'm not familiar with the Novakon, but that's very common for small lathes today.
-If it had "rigid tapping", most likely a cogged timing belt. Plus it'll likely already have a spindle encoder- that's pretty much a requirement for rigid tapping.Dont know if it is flat cog belt or just plain V belt.
-Not necessarily. The encoder should be attached to the spindle itself, not the belt or motor drive. That way the computer knows how fast the spindle is turning, and there's no lost motion or slipped belts in between. If it a v belt the encoder would be worthless.
Doc.

Re: Novakon CNC lathe NL-150
Well that deal went to the DOGS quick... I was born but not yesterday, This A$$ must have dropped the lathe then proceeded to repair it with JB weld and then sand it perfect and repaint it. He did have a Brand new enclosure for it . When asked why it enclosure was not painted That's the way he got it. So if anyone see's a NL-150 on Craigslist in Allentown PA STAY CLEAR.
