VER 4.5 ISSUES
I am just getting my Acorn up and running. My controller etc is all complete and I have just upgraded to ver 4.5. Previously I had been running 4.12 and I had all my motors etc running just fine - on the bench. I then upgraded to 4.14 and nothing worked. I then upgraded to 4.5 and initially nothing worked, but after testing different drivers I finally got my X,Y,Z motors to run. I still have 2 problems.... My A axis will not run and the wireless MPG will not work. It seems to connect but I cannot get any response from it.
On my controller my X,Y and Z drivers are hybrid closed loop steppers, from China. They work ok configured as Leadshine units. However my A axis is a regular Chinese stepper driver (not hybrid) and it will not run. It turns on, the light is green but it just doesnt run. So that's problem #1.
#2, I cannot get any response from the MPG. the display says that it's connected, so why wont it operate the motors etc? what do I need to check?

Happy to help, but you are not providing enough information.pstenabaugh wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 6:50 pm I am just getting my Acorn up and running. ALWAYS Post a Fresh Report F7 Utilities, F7 Create report. Take the time to provide detailed information and we can help.
4.12 is a VERY EARLY version.
Did you follow instructions? Did you create a BACKUP Copy of the CNCM directory with 4.12 in it? Did you create a fresh report in 4.12 before you upgraded? Did you take screen shots of all your Wizard pages with Windows 10 Snipping tool?
Did you put 4.5 over the top of the old 4.12? How exactly did you upgrade.
Being you were so far behind, I would have created a copy of the old CNCM directory along with a fresh report, took screen shots of the old Wizard screens. Then
UNINSTALL the old CNCM using Windows Control Panel uninstall. Deleted what was left of the CNCM directory and THEN installed a fresh copy of Acorn 4.50. Establish Communication between the PC and Acorn, basic Benchtest.
Then proceed to hand key in all your wizard values using your screen shot print outs.
Marty

Re: VER 4.5 ISSUES
Hi Marty, I'll have to go through the install again for verification, however so far I have gone BACK to Ver 4.12, although in that report file I cannot determine what driver setting is setup although I suspect the generic Leadshine. In this configuration I can get ALL my motors to run including the standard stepper. I still have an issue with the MPG but that may because I didnt install the registration code when I switched back.
With Ver 4.5 I have tested all 3 of newer Leadshine drivers but none of them will run the standard stepper. If I select the Benchtest, then nothing runs, but maybe there's something else I'm missing.
So I'll start fresh but I cant do that for a couple days as I'm consumed in some home renos.
Thanks for your help so far, I'll be in touch.

Re: VER 4.5 ISSUES
Are you connected to DB25 or Acorn header?
Do you use drive enable?

Re: VER 4.5 ISSUES
No I am NOT using the DB25, I am connected to Acorn Header. No, I do not think I have used the Drive Enable, I'm not sure how to set that up. Is there a video link that shows that info?

Re: VER 4.5 ISSUES
Go into the DB25 setup and make sure it the check box says header not DB25
Do you have a wire going to ENA header terminal?

Re: VER 4.5 ISSUES
Yes i have a wire on the ENA terminal. I'm heading out to the shop now to double check everything. If I open up the report file from the 4.12 installation that I have now, is it possible to tell what the setting is for the driver configuration? Since all 4 motors work with this setup I'd like to know what the setting is so that perhaps I can repeat that for the 4.5 version.

Make sure your DB25 page says you are using header not DB25.
If it says header post a picture of your advanced wizard screen

Yes, I took screen shots - I forgot about that one, I'll have to check. I can also send you a photo of the wired up acorn.

Re: VER 4.5 ISSUES
If it works under 4.12 it will work under 4.50
I am betting you need to invert the Enable for each axis in the Advanced Tab IF under the DB25 section it says it is set for HEADER and not DB25
