Yaskawa Sigma II drives on Acorn?

Post by cbb1962 »

I am purchasing a machine that uses Yaskawa Servopack SGDM-10ADA-V and SGMGH-09ACA61 Servo Motors. They are currently set up for an old Mach3 system using Step/Direction. Are there any issues using these on an Acorn? Would I use the same Acorn Connection schematic as the Acorn - Sigma 5s?

Those drives should work just fine with acorn.
I'm not sure if the sigma5 schematic would be the same or not.

They do work as this is what I'm setting up right now SGDM 04ADA wired to acorn sheet number S14896 drawing and from there you would need to do some settings on the drive it self for step/dir and a few other things, bench tested up to that point now all working I,m into finalizing the wiring.

Can you post a link to acorn sheet number S14896 I've got the "ACORN_rev3 CONNECTIONS TO YASKAWA SIGMA5 SERVO DRIVE " drawing.

It is in rev 3 of the acorn drawings and the Yaskawa sigma 5 you have is it that is her.

Would you share your Servopack parameter settings? Specifically:
  • Pn201 - PG Divider
  • Pn202 - Electronic gear ratio Numerator
  • Pn203 - Electronic gear ratio Denominator
  • Pn212 - Divider
And what did you do about tuning? I have smooth motion on the X-Axis and Z-Axis but on my paired Y it is jerky at 10IPM.

If they are running on Mach, they are already setup for Step/Dir....should be easy?

I agree but like an idiot, I didn't back up the original settings and just started making changes. I want to make sure what I wound up with is correct.

sigmawin drive parameter config file is .usr you can import/export it from a drive that is working (setup for step and direction) and then make changes from there for individual axis tuning etc. so use one from another axis or ask someone to share theirs with you.

Yes, I hope that flyeribe will share his .usr files and then I can compare my settings to his within SigmaWin+
