Laser tree K30 and Acorn CNC controller compatibility.

Post by gefidalgo »

Hi, i did purchase a laser for my machine project and was checking if the acorn controller will be the correct choice to handle it (see some post using lasers from this brand but i need confirmation)

the laser comes with a 24V 5amp independent power supply that can be connected to a diode driver board if the CNC controller board does not provide the required power or if it operated at another votage level (12V). my main concern is that I checked this additional driver board and the 24V GND input from the laser power supply is common ground connected to the GND pin of the TTL / PWM signal. I have very little knowledge on basic electronics from doing some DIY 3d printers projects like Vorons, but having this common ground between the 5V GND and the 24V GND of the laser creates any risk to the TTL Pin on the Acorn controller? do i need to place any additional protection? (i did burn the TTL ports on my AXBB-E board after my connection plug got suddenly connected and disconnected as it was on the way of the motion while testing and i really dont wont to repeat same error on the Acorn).

Thanks in advance for any advice.

That link has data for you to handle a laser from your laser controller and an Acorn CNC controller.

I just researched briefly this laser module. So, it is a diode laser and not gas or another type.

So, most of these types of lasers are handled by 5v PWM, a 12v PSU, and GND. You can get PWM from the Acorn CNC...

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask away.

P.S. It will be easier to get support if you post a current report.zip file and start a build thread, i.e. posting a Youtube video and google photos album to start. This will help everyone help you a lot easier. Oh and here: https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... ds/326.pdf
