I started getting X-Axis position errors. The X Axis is clearly not happy. I shut down and restarted to see if homing would help but the X servo is oscillating Is there anything I should check as far as tuning. What other diagnostics are available? I noticed that an autotune was run - I am not sure if that was something done automatically or ?
The PID screen says the autotune file can not be found. What would the name be?
EDIT; A couple more things that happened today.
1) I got a windows update
2) I had an incident where my WMPG would only move Z in one direction; turning CW or CCW moved the Z in the minus direction. A shut down fixed the problem.

Check that the encoder is securely clamped to the end of the ballscrew (i.e. check and reseat the setscrews in the shaft collar).

Check belt tension between the X servo motor and the ballscrew.

The encoder was tight on the shaft...damn metric threads..9-) The belt may be a little tight but there is some play. I get encoder counts on the screen. Is there a way to see an index pulse? The encoder is a Suntek LHE-714-2000. Now that I've taken it off is there anything else to check...like oil on the ways...or servo motor.
I was able to move the x axis it was rough and it would trip after a short distance.
UPDATE I put 12vdc to the motor and it runs smoothly...Maybe I will exchange Z and X to test...I'm starting to think board problem...?

Is there a way to see an index pulse?
On the PID Configuration screen, and on the F3/Encoder screen below it, you will see an asterisk next to the axis label in the left-most column whenever the index pulse is present for that axis.

The index pulse, or lack thereof, will not cause servo instability. It only affects the repeatability of homing.

Can you get a video of the X axis oscillation, perhaps also including the PID screen while it is happening?

OK I will put everything back together today.
I have a question about encoder alignment, is it critical to reposition it back to where it was? There is a wide range of adjustment. It sits on a plate, which can rotate - I marked it's position. The encoder has a bracket with a slot that also allows some rotation - it was at one extreme.
Marc I did experience a more pronounced oscillation during our last conversation, At the time you made some adjustments to the tuning. Since then the lathe has been seeing some use, is it possible that the tuning requirements have changed? I did try to run the gcode but it tripped out

UPDATE 2 I have the homing set to Jog. I set part zero X and went to MDI and immediately went into oscillation and tripped

On the ALLIN12DC one of the limit defeat switches is blinking green - specifically #3

Do you mean INP3, on the Alt-i display on the computer screen, is flickering between green and red?

Or do you mean that a physical LED on the Allin1DC board, which happens to be near the limit defeater DIP switches, is blinking?

If the latter, that has nothing to do with the limit switch defeaters. There are nine status LEDs on the Allin1DC board, reporting various information. See pages 15 and 14 of the attached hardware manual for a guide to the status LEDs and their meaning.

It's the one on the board. And I noticed #2 was blinking later. BUT
I checked the X fuse on the board and it was blown. I'm pretty sure I heard the replacement go...poof...yup it blew as soon as I turned on power.
I would think that could be why Z didn't move when the swap happened...
