Wireless MPG wheel stopped working

Post by slodat »

I'm in the middle of a production run on my mill and the wireless MPG wheel stopped working. I've powered down, rebooted, restarted, new batteries, and all the other obvious stuff I can think of. It hasn't been dropped or anything. The wheel just stopped working on any of the modes. All the buttons work fine and the display updates with the machine's movement.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Do I need to order a replacement? I use it constantly while running the machine.

Thank you in advance.

I swapped the MPG with the one from my lathe. Problem follows the MPG. Lathe MPG works as expected on the mill.

The rotary encoder stopped working. Is there a repair or replacement program along the lines of the Acorn deal?

hi,

if the unit is less than 1 year old we will replace the unit for free.

and sorry we don't repair these units. (the price is below our minimum cnc component repair service fee of $375).

Since you have already ordered an new one and the old one is sort of scrap this is what I would try. open up the MPG or pull off the hand wheel. Whatever you need to do to access the encoder. Spray some good quality contact cleaner into the encoder and let it dry, Reassemble and see if it works. It's worth a try.
