Old post...
i decided to leak some photos and info of one of the new products we have been working on...
The new probe is a 3 axis Kinematic Touch Probe that is Made in the USA.
Designed and built by Centroid in Pennsylvania by master machinists that have been building probes for 25 years.
This new probe is designed to provide un-matched performance in its price range which will allow the DIY CNC builder access to a Machine Tool Touch Probe that works well and is trouble free at an affordable price.
Having been thoroughly tested and passed our rigorous in house testing, the new probe is in beta testing with several of our core beta test members and we expect to open up the website to public orders in about 6 weeks or so as we ramp up production. The new probe is made on our very own in house CNC machine tools (running Centroid CNC controls of course). One of the key machines used in production is a Hardinge CHNC super precision lathe that allows us to maintain the precision level parts needed to make the new probe. The new probe will be sold as a kit that includes an internal and external cable, the internal cable as the name implies goes inside the electrical cabinet and connects to the Acorn and then provides a bulk head connector that the external probe cable connects to and is easy to connect and disconnect the probe.

Keith, you mention that you are targeting the DIY market with this probe.
I have the mustang probe but your specs look great.
Any word on pricing yet?

One obvious pricing benchmark would be the ITTP from Cliff Hall down under - US$700

Re: A new Centroid CNC Kinematic Machine Tool Touch Probe will soon be available.
I too was going to order a "fereign" probe for my upcoming 40 tool ATC machine, now I am glad I had some "international card issues". The additional internal harness, built in support for the probe detect circuit combined with Centroid's quality and support lets me think I am going to actually get more for my money.
Let me know when I can place an order.

I feel the same way, Gary. Wishing I would have known about this in time.

Cliff's ITTP has been thoroughly tested. He cared about it and wanted to make sure it was tested well before it's release. I think you'll be ok.

and... the complete set of Menu driven Probing cycles will be included with Acorn CNC12 Pro starting in the next release.
CNC12 push button Menu driven probing cycles include: Bore, Boss, Slot, Web, Inside Corner, Outside corner, Single edge find, find angle, auto probe for CSR (Coordinate System Rotation). A small price increase of CNC12 Pro will most likely occur in conjunction with the next release.
So buy your Pro Licenses now. If you already have CNC12 Pro when you upgrade to the next version of CNC12 the Menu driven probing cycles will be included.

I just bought two digitizing bundles for the probing cycles. Can't see ever using the digitizing stuff..
