I just changed one over from Pacific Scientific drivers to leadshine. Night and Day difference as far as smooth and quiet. Now that still does not explain why the system is louder on Acorn, compared to Mach3. Did you use the smoothing feature?

The G540 is a fixed 10X microstepping drive. With a standard stepper motor of 200 steps per rev, you should be putting in 2000 steps per motor rev PERIOD. You use the OVERALL TURNS Ration to figure in your screw pitch and pulley reduction. They are two separate values as they should be in the Centroid control. They aren't lumped together like in Mach.

As cheap and as better as the new stepper motors are, I wouldn't use the old round body steppers...

Thats what I have it set at. 2000 steps per rev. I adjusted the turns ratio until I had an accurate movement but it is still lousmd and growling sounding. Not sure how else to adjust the turns ratio to smooth and quiet it and still have accuracy. Am I missing something?

If there are any other suggestions please send them my way. I really want to get this machine running smoothly. I have put a hold on taking orders until I get it up again. Thanks
Have you tried inverting the pulse signal? (you do this in the Setup Wizard)

I can't remember for sure as it has been too long since I finished my project but I think the Leadshine products need the step pulse reversed.

Dave C.
I have not tried that. I did see that in the setting though. I will try it and see what it does. Thanks for the suggestion Dave:)

Ok I will take some pics. Sorry didnt see this message til now. Inam messing with the signal inversion under advanced now trying to see if I can make it sound better. Z and Y sound a little better with step reversed. But still machine sound like crap when I run a program and all axis are moving. X axis hasnt really improved.

Ok here are the pics of my wizard menu screens. Tried sending once but only one got through. I am playing with the axis signal inversion settings under the advanced tab at the moment. Not much improvement so far.
