Southbend Magnaturn 612 Acorn retrofit DMM Servos
I'm retrofitting a Southbend Magnaturn 612 with the acorn board and DYN2 AC Servos. All has gone fairly well so far. I have it to the point where the axis motors work and just wired up the spindle. The spindle is the first thing I've hooked up to the relay board. I did the diagnostic bench test on the board and it work fine but I cannot get CNC12 to turn the relays on and of when running a program. In other works I can use the ALT I command and the CONT ALT F to make the spindle run but that's the only way I can get the relays to work. I ran the wizard and relay 3 is set to spindle brake, 4 is spindle forward, 5 Spindle Rev etc.. This is the default setup on the wizard for the DYN series setup and then I hit write to file.
Am I missing a step?

Re: Southbend Magnaturn 612 Acorn retrofit
in the attached pictures I have the spindle on at 100 percent and none of the spindle outputs are green. Hope this helps. It seems like the software is not sending any output signals on the outputs for the relay board.

Do you have a spindle brake?

no spindle brake. I can manually turn on the relays using the diagnostic screen and the spindle runs fine, but the software won't trigger ANY outputs including spindle Fwd, spindle Rev, coolant, etc...

Are you connected to the "DriveOk" input and are you sure you have the right NO/NC selection? You might want to set to Unused to test.
That's all I have for DMM stuff. Too much "bad juju" surrounding them, maybe Marty has more.

Re: no output signal in software - Southbend Magnaturn 612 Acorn retrofit
Gary,
Its not an issue with the DMM motors, I wired them up and the axis motors run fine. Its the output relay signal in the software. For instance when you turn off auto spindle and click spindle start, output 4 should turn green but I get nothing. I loaded CNC 12 on my laptop this morning and got the same result. after messing with it all night I have also found that if I turn off the Auto Coolant Button in does not let me turn on the manual Coolant or Mist button. I'm getting the same result on the all in one computer and my laptop....

Gary, I tried setting input 5 to unused and NC and it WORKED !! Now onto mounting the Motors

Does your drive have an output for "ok" signal? That's where you would connect it.dbensavage wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 11:22 am Gary, I tried setting input 5 to unused and NC and it WORKED !! Now onto mounting the Motors
Now make some chips!
