Recommended Vfd and motor

Post by Ashb82 »

I have a cat40 work head I want to be variable on a grinder I’m converting. It currently has a .75 hp motor on it with pulleys to control the rpm. I would like to use the acorn 0-10v to control this. Any recommendations would be helpful

Can you share the nameplate of the motor? If it has an existing 3 phase motor, you can control it without changing the motor. I have used Automation Direct GS drives for years and had good success. They also have good documentation and phone support if you need it. Check out the GS10 or GS20 series of drives. For that HP you can get a drive that converts single phase 220 to 3 phase, you might even get one that converts 120v to 220v 3 phase if needed.

Just select a single pulley ratio and set up your VFD for that.
