I would like to know where you buy the aluminum you use in your projects? Every place I check the prices are unbelievably high.
Great job on the lathe.

Allways good to have a Acorn mill to build a Acorn lathe
Did the wiring on X and mounted the home switches, the one for Z long way adjustable to speed up homing for short parts, or as a safety feature if using the tailstock.

First Video:
X is already working, hope the servos for Z and spindle will arrive soon.
I am very curious to test how fast the 400W 220V servo will drive the Z axis....

Great job. Very clean looking. Stop making it look so easy. You are making the rest of us feel bad!

Well maybe it will be not so easy to get the JMC servo for Z axis tuned in, no documentation for use with Acorn right now....

Re: New Build, PM2700 lathe with Acorn
Finished wiring with the parts I have already, Encoder, ToolTouchOff and E-Stop.
Found a place for the PC, the cabinet will go on the wall when it is finished
Bad news from JMC, no flights because of lock down, now they go by ship to Hongkong and from there by plane to Germany, but the machine ist even now to long out of order, so I ordert an other 4Nm CL stepper for Z to make some chips the next days...

Re: New Build, PM2700 lathe with Acorn
Got the intermediate Stepper in 20h from Stepperonline, freaking fast delivery
CL57T Driver is now Version 4. No plug for tunning software now, but good adjustable with DIP switches and one rotating switch.
Also the new Version works up to 500 khz and max. 50V 7.5A
Did a quick installation, and will make the mounting bracket for the lathe tomorrow, can reuse it for the servo, because it is also NEMA24 but an bigger driveshaft.
New pic added to the album, and hopefully tomorrow a video with turning some metal.

It is alive
could turn the first chips today. Will mount the encoder tomorrow and let it cut some threads....
