Cutter Compensation
Hi,
Could somebody please explain why Acorn fails to follow the programmed path correctly when cutter compensation is applied on this profile.
I have attached a screen shot showing the error, and the code being used.
Phil

Re: Cutter Compensation
Acorn cuts a gouge out of the part when it reaches the circle on the screenshot.

Re: Cutter Compensation
Try increasing Machine Parameter 99.
Use F8/Graph to preview the path. There is no need to run it every time.

Re: Cutter Compensation
I have had a look at the machine parameter 6 but it says its to enable an automatic tool changer. I does not seem to make a difference if i set it to 1.

Re: Cutter Compensation
Also just to add a bit more information I am running the latest version of Acorn and this has been an on going issue with all the versions I have used. Everything else works great.

Re: Cutter Compensation
Sorry about that: Machine Parameter 99 (corrected above as well).

Re: Cutter Compensation
Thanks for the pointers, I have just tried that and it still does not fix the problem,
I am convinced that its a problem with the software and Centroid should look in to fixing it. This does not happen on any other machine as far as I know.

Re: Cutter Compensation
You should post a Report from your control, taken immediately after you have confirmed the problem is still present.
This type of thing often relates to small roundoff errors, and so will vary depending on the exact location of your part zero and the exact value of your tool diameter offset.
Without a report from your control, there is little that someone at Centroid can do except try your CNC program and tell you that it works fine on their system.

Re: Cutter Compensation
Thank you I think this is the way I will have to go.rk9268vc wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 4:00 pm Here is a thread explaining how i got it to work
