my cnc conversion emco maximat standard

Here is my conversion of my hobby CNC to linear rails and ball screws.
Please excuse me for speaking German.
My machine is an Emco Maximat Standard from 1960.
Control is of course my Acorn 4.
Motors are 3Nm JMC cheap motors.
Spindles are 16x5mm from Aliexpress with matching motor mounts Nema23.
The main spindle motor is a 1.3 Kw motor from JMC.
This can change from spindle to C axis
The driven tool is a Hf spindle from China.
Encoder is 2000 line encoder (Ebay)
Linear rails are 20mm also from Ali.
since the conversion, the precision has actually increased from +/-0.2mm by 0.4mm to +/-0.03mm, most of the time I end up at 0.01mm
but the milling is worse because I end up at 0.03mm
Written enough just watch and ask questions if you want.
Best regards Stephan

Very cool. Good way also to generate more travel in X.

I thank both of you
I highly recommend this for any small machine.
With the Dovetails was horrible.
As it is now it is a dream

The last part is done by the machine itself

I have a question
I bought an MPG.
Of course I'm totally thrilled.
But back to the question
There are 4 extra macro buttons

Is it possible to assign 2 buttons so that the tool changes.
if for example it is T202 is in it then I press the Macro 1 button and the software changes to T303?
or there is T505 in it and I press Macro 2 button and then the software inserts T404.
I press again and T303 in etc
Is this possible?

Thanks for the info

Should be possible.

Do you have ATC now on the lathe?

No, no ATC because I still have a solution for the live tool
I just want to quickly change the tool and its offset
The whole thing is intended to speed up the calibration of the tool

My workflow is with this macro:

Code: Select all

;------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Filename: mfunc58.mac - To run from VCP AUX 9 key, set CNC12 P#196 = 5811
; M58 macro
; Description: Select Tool and rapid to X position
; Notes:
; Requires: Machine home must be set prior to use.
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IF #50010 ;Prevent lookahead from parsing past here
IF #4201 || #4202 THEN GOTO 1000 ;Skip macro if graphing or searching

M224#110 " Select Tool Number and Offset\nPress Cycle Cancel/ESC to Exit"
T#110
M224#111 "Rapid to X positon\nPress Cycle Cancel/ESC to Exit"
G0 X#111

N100

N1000 ;End of Macro
makes for me more sense because I seldom use tools in order by the number.

You can use it as MPGmacro1.mac also
