Well, finally got to cut the first piece today. Took longer to do the wiring and calibrate everything than I thought it would. Bit of a learning curve with the new software but we’re getting there. Original system ran mach3 through parallel port from windows xp. New setup uses the acorn, cnc12, and windows 10. Motors and drivers are kept from the Mach system. Big upgrade is having the Xbox controller to do jogging, start, hold, preheat, cut, and feedrate. Mach system had no software control of preheat and cut and used a wired switch box to control solenoids. Now I can use Mcode to start and stop, big improvement. Also setting the origin is much easier to do at the part rather than at the keyboard. Big thanks again to diycncscott for making the custom PLC code for me, it’s working great.
There were some requests for a video. I'll apologize in advance its not the best, I'm no YouTube star. I didn't take the video with the plasma actually cutting because I was trying to do it by myself with one hand on the controller. If I get some help later maybe I'll do another, and possibly one with the flame torch showing the preheating.

Nice, but is a "fish story" until we see sparks and cutting action!

Well you got me there. Unfortunately it seems to make more money doing it’s job than showing off for the camera... hopefully an action shot soon!martyscncgarage wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:02 pm Nice, but is a "fish story" until we see sparks and cutting action!

I was just teasing. Use your smart phone to shoot a video clip next time she's running.legacytorch wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:28 amWell you got me there.
