New CNC 3-axis Router

Hi, Everyone!

I nearly have my 3-axis router completed. I'm still awaiting one machined part for the dust-collection head so I can assemble the spindle to the Z-axis.


I'm using an OAK CNC controller with SureServo2 Servo drives and motors. I set everything up and can move the axes and run the spindle. I have the dust collector set up with a cyclonic separator, and a 5 micron bag on the exhaust blower. The regenerative blower for vacuum is on the floor behind the machine.

I built the stand for the PC out of black extrusion with black-anodized plates for the keyboard/mouse shelf, and the all-in-one computer shelf. The stand can be moved where needed by the operator.

I will contact tech support for answers to a couple of minor questions. Can't wait to see it making chips!

Nice work.

You might want to rearrange your cable routing, to keep the servo motor power cables better separated from your input and signal cables and wiring. The servo motor power cabling can be a significant source of noise.

Buy two finger guards (FG4) for the transformer. Everything else in your cabinet is nicely finger-safe, so you may as well make the transformer that way as well.

Nice work, I just hope you dont have too much lateral flex from your gantry. Those side frames are REALLY tall.

Yes, with the bearings mounted very low as well.
