Re: Inexpensive touch probe option for 2d on a router??

This is the probe I'm considering.

What I'm wanting is 2d (x & y). The piece I would be digitizing is of uniform thickness. Is this something I can do with the CNC12 digitizing bundle and a probe like the one I linked?

Inexpensive touch probe option for 2d on a router??

I’m wondering if there’s an inexpensive touch probe option for use in my CNC router. I create templates of a shape (a car door panel in this case) and an having a heck of a time getting them drawn accurately. I was thinking a touch probe on my Acorn equipped CNC router might be the way to go. I woul...

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

Thank you for your help and videos, Marty! It is a completely different machine. I have done so much with Intercon already. It was a huge part of what was missing with Mach3. The reliability is the biggest thing I've gained though. Very happy with the machine. So much so that I think I'm about to or...

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

I’m calling this conversion done for now. When CNC12 v4.12 comes out I’ll get the gantry squaring working. The parts arrived for my chip (plastic and aluminum) blower arrived, so I’ll add that soon and wire the solenoid valve to an output via an interposing relay. My thought process is if the soleno...

Does slave axis need a limit switch?

I’m trimming out and finalizing my Acorn cabinet. Up to this point my Y axis slave drive ST/DR has been connected the Same outputs as the Y with motor polarity reversed. I’ve read that the next software release will include gantry squaring options in the homing routine. I know squaring will require ...

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

I wired in FL-/FL+ and lowered my Z onto a block of wood in an attempt to fault the drive to test that this was indeed a fault output. Well.. the drive didn’t fault and I didn’t want to regret breaking anything. Needless to say I’ve shelved it for now. The control is controlling my spindle speed cor...

Re: How to determine steps/revolution?

My axis seem to be calibrated well against my best measuring equipment (Starrett 0.0005 dial indicator) and I don’t have any concerns now that I ran the smoothing!! The difference is amazing! Just wow! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180425/7472d2f45ba2085f1325c86aa10ed29d.jpg https://uploads.tap...

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

Keith- I'm not much of a video production guy. But, I'm willing to learn! I'll make the change to the video title. Thank you for the suggestion! [edited to add] made the change to the video titles. I posted on Instagram and have pointed a couple guys your way as well. When I was using the "Dust...

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

Keith, Gary, Marty - Thank you for your help! I'm progressing! I made a spoil board surfacing program in Intercon. For the life of me I can't figure out how to add an M61 after my M6 in Intercon. I have been adding it after the fact in Notepad++. Spoil board surfacing went well. I bumped federate up...

Re: How to determine steps/revolution?

To start, set your drives at 1/8 microstepping (1600) or ON/OFF/ON. Enter 1600 in "Steps per Revolution (all axes) You can double them up later if needed. You "turns per inch seem a bit off, close to some familiar ratios. Can you tell me what type of reduction you are using and what the r...
