Re: Acorn wireless MPG

Hello Marty, I am still having problems with axis drift and MPG stops working. 1. There is a lot of 60 hz hash on the step pins at Acorn when pins are not inverted. When inverted the 60 hz hash is gone. When in the inverted position the drift is much less but still there. It is not only the z axis b...

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

I didn't get the latest Acorn issue, it came with a single 24 volt supply.

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

I am using a wallwart 5v supply, it uses a 3 terminal regulator, less than 5 mv. ripple, same with 24v supply.

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

I'm hopeful and confident that MPG problem is solved, not really sure how though! Windows is like our government! I made the mistake of stating two problems, MPG and z down drift. The main thing that made a difference was changing the step polarity. Moving wires has no effect on y axis after change....

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

Thank you Reed, that did the trick however Windows required a third boot to get the touch screen back!
Hooray, the MPG sure makes setups easier.
Thanks again. :D :D

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

It's wired as per schematic.
I'm putting off any more on z axis until I get the new spindle cable.

Any clues as to what might be going on with my MPG, looks as if I'm the only one having problems with it. I don't feel
that special!

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

The test program with multiple 1 inch z moves was done with an indicator mounted in the spindle, no problem with z on this test. Dry runs of the peg-a program with vfd off had varying amounts of error on the z axis, but always in the downward ( gravity? ) direction. I believe two problem exist, 1. u...

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

I did reterminate the xyz step dir and enable points on the Acorn, this helped the situation but didn't cure completely. Inverting the step output helped out, on the scope it was hard to see step pulses thru the fuzzy 60hz wave with them not inverted, it's a wonder the drives could pick out the step...

Re: Acorn wireless MPG

This morning MPG not working again. I think this may be a windows problem, without the cnc12 running the MPG still displays DRO data, data goes from Acorn to windows via ethernet to usb puck to MPG, I think. Ran Peg-a program and still had .020 down drift on z for the 12 pockets. If it is noise why ...
