Re: Dual Bridgeport BOSS Build
I installed Panasonic servos. If I was doing another, Id go servo again (lots of options). I dont think Ill ever do another stepper conversion again, the price point for cheap servos make them far better an option. I run a basic HY VFD for the spindle but about to try a proper spindle servo setup an...

Re: Dual Bridgeport BOSS Build
Ive retrofitted a Bridgeport Interact Series 1 which I think is similar to the Boss version (from a few quick pics). Pretty straightforward.

Re: Any UK retailer for AcornCNC
Thanks for the answer... that is great to know.. I already let my father to do it but it is good to know that for the future. I have also found some EU retailer but even if there would be no custom charges their prices are just ridiculous. I saw one which is asking £450 for $299 acorn kit. So I wil...

Re: Installing the Acorn with Adtech CNC drives
If you look at this - Appendix page 43 shows the setting I'm talking about (for Panasonic) but an example. In my case, I had this wrong and had the same problem, Servo would always run in a single direction only. https://industrial.panasonic.com/content/data/MT/PDF/minas_a_e.pdf Forgot I can attach ...

Re: Installing the Acorn with Adtech CNC drives
I've had a similar issue with Panasonic drives from Acorn. Ill need to look up what I did to fix it but its related to a parameter which looks at the step / direction 'sequencing'. Hard to explain without the image but if you think of an encoder setup, A B Z pulse, it expects the B after the A etc (...

Re: limit switches
Hi,
Have you taken a look at the various schematics from the website? They show a lot of examples on how to wire limits.

Re: 455 Spindle axis(5) encoder quadrature error
Ye, I had the same issue on my lathe - misalignment causes these cheap alu couplers to break - I broke 2 before I corrected my misalignment issue. I discovered mine as I was trying to thread and the Z axis movement was slowing down and speeding up as the encoder feedback was eratic.

Re: Hardinge CHCN Retrofit
Thanks both. Turns out that the motors have already been replaced with some servos but I did see some motors in one of the cabinets - not sure which of the 2 lathes they belong to. I dont think Ill stay with the DC motors - been there before with other machines so will be looking for modern AC servo...
