Re: Limited Travel on Y Axis When Auto-squaring

The proximity sensors are mounted on the gantry and are triggered by a metal "knob" installed on brackets in the home position (the master is visible in the photo - the red bracket). Home position is in the front left corner of the machine in the photo, as marked.

Re: Limited Travel on Y Axis When Auto-squaring

As mentioned in the OP, DMM2 drives. It's wired according to the Centroid schematic, using NO limit switches. As for "everything goes to hell as it tries to square the master," when the Acorn tries to "square" the master to the home switch, with the slave "squared" an i...

Limited Travel on Y Axis When Auto-squaring < noise on prox switch inputs>

I'm working with a CNCRP (Avid) Pro6060 running DMM2 drives and DMM motors. Y axis is the gantry with master and slave motors. I'm using auto-squaring with the CNCRP proximity sensors. The auto-squaring works, but only within a very limited range – if I haven’t jogged the gantry to within an inch or...

Re: Fault Reset When Activating Spindle

I'm not sure why I could activate the spindle if I didn't move any of the axes before triggering the spindle Maybe you have the spindle drive fault signal going to a PLC input that actually means servo (axis) drive fault? Having an axis drive faulted is generally not considered a fault until you tr...

Re: Fault Reset When Activating Spindle

I've got it working. I had to change the "drive okay" input on the Acorn to NO, wire the "drive okay" inputs from the Acorn to the NO terminals on the VFD relay, and program the VFD relay to trigger on a VFD drive fault. It's all good now. I thought the factory setting for the VF...

Re: Fault Reset When Activating Spindle

I would get it running without the fault circuit first and make sure all is good with that. Then work on adding that to the mix. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by "get it running." The axes all work, homing and squaring the y axis works, the tool probe detect works, the ...

Fault Reset When Activating Spindle

I'm still in the build and bench test phase for my CNC router. As I indicated in the "Huanyang GT" thread, I purchased a GS3-23PO from Automation Direct for use with the same cheap air cooled Chinese spindle. The GS3-23PO is a very robust unit (giant heat sink) and comes with great and ver...

Re: Huanyang GT Series VFDs

I ended up giving up on the Huanyang GT series VFD and went (on Marty's recommendation) with a GS3-23PO from Automation Direct. It's a very impressive unit, both in build and documentation. So, I can't - based on actual experience - say that Marty's draft settings work, but they reflected everything...
